What Jev is, in board terms

Jev is TypeSafe’s decision model in the System One category: short, bounded judgments. A business supplies relevant information and a defined question; the model returns a typed answer and probability information. Usefulness depends on the process around it, the quality of the evidence and the cost of mistakes.

Coverage opportunity

Wider coverage of decisions that are currently too expensive, slow or inconsistent to perform at scale—reading every support request for routing, reviewing completed agent runs for possible failures, or identifying invoices that need a person. These are operational judgments with observable outcomes.

Risk, cost and speed

Risk limits adoption when a general AI assistant appears to have too much discretion. A bounded decision service can narrow permitted outputs, send uncertain cases to review and record which policy produced the final action. That reduces particular failure modes; it does not prove that every judgment is correct or that a regulated decision is acceptable.

Cost limits adoption when every item requires a large model or a person. A small classification step can filter the workload so expensive reasoning and human attention go to the cases that need them. Include orchestration, retrieval, licences, review, mistakes and support—not only model tokens.

Speed limits adoption when a useful signal arrives after the workflow has already moved on. Faster semantic decisions may support interactive routing and earlier exception handling. End-to-end time still includes data retrieval, network calls, queues and Microsoft platform execution.

The decision to fund

Fund one bounded pilot with a named process owner, baseline measures and a stop rule. Require evidence before expanding authority. Report cases handled, errors and incidents, cost per successful outcome, backlog impact and unresolved risks. No claim of production readiness should rest on a vendor benchmark alone.
